Boxer Oleksandr Usyk intends to run for president of Ukraine

Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk said he plans to run for the presidency of Ukraine. He spoke about this in an interview with the YouTube channel. Seconds Out in response to a question about future plans after the fight with Briton Tyson Fury.
“I will return to the first heavy weight, once again I will become the absolute champion and I will run for president,” said the boxer.

Oleksandr Usyk is the WBA Super (World Boxing Association), IBF (International Boxing Federation), WBO (World Boxing Organization) and IBO (International Boxing Organization) world boxing champion. In order to become the absolute champion, he needs to win the fight with Tyson Fury, who has the WBC (World Boxing Council) belt. In March, Usyk’s fight with Fury broke down due to the fact that the parties could not agree on the distribution of income. On July 12, Tyson Fury signed a contract to fight former UFC champion Francis Ngannou on October 28. Oleksandr Usyk himself will enter the ring on August 26 with Briton Daniel Dubois.
In August 2022, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated Usyk on his victory in the fight for the WBA Super, IBF, WBO and IBO world title. In the same month, Vladimir Zelensky awarded the boxer with the Order of Merit, 1st degree.
