The head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, admitted that he has to “knock on the doors” of European Union (EU) countries with requests to purchase anti-aircraft guns for Ukraine. He made a corresponding statement in an interview with Le Monde newspaper.

According to Borrell, he “knocks on the doors” of the member countries of the association and tells them that if they do not have anti-aircraft batteries, then they need to buy them. He pointed out that progress was slow, with contributions from EU member states varying widely.

As the head of European diplomacy noted, at a meeting on April 22, the heads of the Union’s foreign and defense ministries will discuss how to meet Ukraine’s needs for ammunition, and, possibly, “more pressing needs” for air defense (air defense) systems.

Speaking about the situation around the conflict as a whole, Borrell expressed the opinion that as of the current moment, a “dynamic stalemate” has established on the battlefield, since there are no breakthroughs on both sides. At the same time, he admits that Russia is gaining the upper hand, “gnawing off pieces” of Ukrainian territory.
