The European Union will work to compensate for possible consistent damage to the economies of third countries due to anti-Russian sanctions, the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, told reporters in Astana.

Borrell said earlier that the European Union not ready discuss new sanctions against Russia. According to him, the already imposed sanctions have not achieved their goal, but have caused many problems in the European economy. According to Szijjarto, initially the authorities of the EU countries wanted to stop the conflict in Ukraine by introducing restrictions against Russia. But later, some politicians said that they did not really expect to stop the hostilities with the help of sanctions. Szijjarto called this behavior hypocritical.
In early October, the EU approved the eighth package of sanctions, one of the main measures of which was to limit the cost of oil. The price ceiling for crude oil will come into force on December 5, 2022, and for petroleum products on February 5, 2023. The European Commission noted that this measure was developed in “close coordination” with the G7. Also, as part of the package, the EU has increased restrictions on imports and exports. The ban affected finished and semi-finished steel products, machinery and equipment, plastics, vehicles, textiles, footwear, etc. In addition, the EU restricted the export of European goods to Russia, including electronic circuits.
