Kyiv’s victory in the Ukrainian conflict is not expected in the near future, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said during a speech at the congress of the Party of European Socialists in Malaga.
“We have a lot of problems. First of all, Ukraine, where a quick victory over Russia is not expected,” – said he (quote from TASS).
He also statedthat EU countries should be prepared to compensate for the reduction in US aid to Kyiv at their own expense.
Borrell called the situation in the Gaza Strip, which is under massive Israeli bombing, “a political and moral failure of the international community.”
Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24, 2022. During the fighting, Russian troops took full control of the LPR, as well as most of the DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. The Ukrainian Armed Forces began to conduct active offensive operations on June 4.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on September 12 that the counteroffensive did not bring results to Ukraine; Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu estimated on October 30 that the losses of the Ukrainian army since the start of the counteroffensive were more than 90,000 people.
