Borrell demanded immediate release of ousted Niger president

The head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, on behalf of the European Union, expressed “deep concern” on his Twitter in connection with the fact that the deposed President of Niger, Mohamed Bazum, is actually being held hostage.
He demanded that he be released as soon as possible without any conditions being put forward, saying that he had information about the deteriorating conditions of the president and his family. According to Borrell, Mohamed Bazum and his family members “are deprived of food, electricity and basic services for several days.”
The organizers of the coup in the African country had previously warned that in the event of military intervention they could eliminate the ousted president. Recall that he was overthrown as a result of the rebellion at the end of July.
The situation escalated when other African countries demanded that the coup organizers give up power and release Mohamed Bazum, otherwise they threaten Niger with a military invasion.
