Borrell arrived in Odessa on an unannounced visit

The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrell, is in Odessa, the EU foreign policy service reported on Platform X.
Borrell’s arrival in Ukraine was not announced. In his video message, he stated that the purpose of the visit was to express support for Kyiv.
“Odessa is a beautiful historical city. It should be in the headlines because of its vibrant culture and spirit,” the EU’s head of diplomacy wrote, adding that the bloc supports the restoration of Ukrainian sites.
In September Ukraine visited German Foreign Minister Annalena Bärbock. She said that Berlin will continue to support Kyiv “on its path to the European Union.” In the same month, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken visited Kyiv. He met with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, Prime Minister Denis Shmygal and Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba. Following his trip to Ukraine, Blinken announced the allocation of more than $1 billion in additional financial assistance to Ukraine.
