Boris Grebenshchikov is asked to check for terrorism

State Duma deputy Sultan Khamzaev (ER) said that he would send a request to the Investigative Committee of Russia (TFR) with a request to check the statements of the leader of the Aquarium group Boris Grebenshchikov for the fact of promoting terrorism and discrediting the Russian military. The reason was an interview with Mr. Grebenshchikov.

In May 2022, the musician (who left Russia after the start of the special operation) gave an interview to the Israeli channel Channel 9. He said that he sent Ukraine 12 million collected at one of the concerts (without specifying what currency he was talking about). In June 2022, the musician clarified that it was about €12 million collected with other artists at the Sound of Peace charity festival in Berlin.

Deputy Khamzaev became interested in the musician’s long-standing statements after journalist Alexander Kots posted excerpts from the Aquarium leader’s interview on his Telegram channel. “This is an ideological war aimed at forming a defeatist public opinion. The “sleeper cells” of the West are focused on spreading fakes, imposing false truths and demonstrating loyalty to the West,” Mr. Khamzaev said.

It should be noted that earlier the deputy demanded that the actor Artur Smolyaninov be brought to justice, who in an interview declared his readiness to fight on the side of Ukraine. The head of the ICR, Alexander Bastrykin, instructed to open a criminal case against Mr. Smolyaninov. It was not specified what article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation was discussed and whether the case was ultimately initiated.
