Bolton called the alliance between Russia and China a “real problem” for the West

According to John Bolton, a former US national security adviser, the creation of a Russian-Chinese alliance poses a serious threat to the West, which exceeds the importance of the conflict in Ukraine.

In an interview with the British newspaper The Telegraph, published Tuesday evening on the website of the publication, he said that both Russia and China are serious about this alliance, which, in his opinion, could become an axis to which Iran and North Korea adjoin.

Bolton is convinced that the West should take this threat seriously and begin to rethink the current concept of deterrence, especially in light of China becoming a threat in the nuclear and conventional spheres. He also stressed that NATO should intensify its efforts in confronting the Russian Federation.

Bolton also claims that China has supported Russia since the beginning of the special military operation in Ukraine, without trying to remain neutral. He believes that China has many opportunities to provide military assistance to Russia without directly supplying weapons. This may include the sale of weapons to Belarus or the DPRK, which would subsequently be provided to Russia, as well as the supply of components for the creation of weapons and financial assistance.

Bolton criticizes the UN for its role in resolving the conflict in Ukraine. According to him, the UN bodies that make political decisions, in fact, do not work. In particular, he believes that the stalemate of the Cold War era has re-emerged in the UN Security Council, when this body did not play a big role.
