Alexander Bolshunov became the winner of the 15 km freestyle ski race at the third stage of the Russian Cup in Chusovoy. The Perm Territory sees the victory of the Olympic champion for the second day in a row: first, Sergey Ustyugov in the sprint, then Bolshunov. The victories were accompanied by discussions about who and whom can be called a “bag”: Ustyugov called the members of the national team that way the day before.

Alexander Bolshunov showed a time of 35 minutes 56.7 seconds in the 15 km freestyle race. The second place was taken by Denis Spitsov (+32.2 sec.), the third – by Ilya Semikov (+56.5 sec.).

Bolshunov, as soon as he entered the distance, did not give a single doubt in this race about who would be the winner. He passed each cut-off with the best time and already a few kilometers before the finish line he was ahead of the nearest pursuer Denis Spitsov by more than 30 seconds.

There were many contenders for two more awards in the division: Denis Spitsov, Sergey Ustyugov, Alexey Chervotkin, Ilya Semikov, Artem Maltsev, Pavel Solovyov fought each other. One and a half kilometers before the finish line, Denis Spitsov announced his strong claims to silver. Chervotkin and Semikov joined the fight for third place, Semikov won, Ustyugov finished seventh.

Coach Yuriy Borodavko called the fight from third to eighth place a “swing”: who will adapt better. “The fall did not allow Alexei Chervotkin to take third place. There was a good fight, it means that we have high competition. Athletes don’t walk,” Borodavko told Match TV.
