Bogomaz: deployment of a battalion from Chechnya in the Bryansk region is not planned

The involvement of the Chechen battalion “West-Akhmat” to protect the border regions of the Bryansk region is not planned, the governor of the region Alexander Bogomaz said at the SPIEF.

“We haven’t had any offers yet. [привлечь к охране границы батальон “Запад-Ахмат”]”, – said Bogomaz (quote according to TASS). He clarified that now the state border is guarded by the Russian Ministry of Defense, the border department of the FSB and the National Guard.

Bogomaz also declaredthat temporary accommodation centers (TAPs) are ready to receive residents of border areas in the event of increased shelling from Ukraine. According to him, about 13,000 people live in the settlements near the border, including 1,500 children.

Former head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov informedthat the personnel of the “West-Akhmat” battalion began to work in the border area of ​​the Belgorod region. The battalion took up duty at a checkpoint near two settlements, one of which, according to him, had previously been attacked by the Russian Volunteer Corps group.

Kadyrov spoke about the idea of ​​sending Chechen forces to the Belgorod region to fight groups of saboteurs on June 5. In his opinion, the elimination of saboteurs requires not only military, but also anti-terrorist experience, which the fighters of the republic’s units have.
