In the Voronezh region, investigators opened a criminal case after published photographs of bullying of mentally retarded children in the Buturlinovsky orphanage. Employees of the Investigative Committee, having received a signal, went to this institution, but did not find evidence in the form of “bodily injuries” in children.
Photos of orphanage children tied to beds cannot but shock. These pictures, according to the one who took them and handed them over to local authorities, were allegedly taken in the Buturlinovsky orphanage for mentally retarded children. In the photo, one of the babies was swaddled like a straitjacket, the other was tied by the neck to the bed … One pupil was “crucified” on a bare bed. The caption of the author of the photo reads: so-and-so “tied to the bed by doctors as punishment for not sleeping during the day. So he will spend the whole night.
According to the Investigative Committee for the Voronezh region, after they received a signal “about the violation of the rights of pupils” of this orphanage, the investigators went to the place to conduct a pre-investigation check. They inspected the scene, interviewed the employees of the boarding school and “seized the documentation”, but found no injuries in the children. That is, “the fact of committing any illegal actions against pupils has not found its objective confirmation.”
Nevertheless, a criminal case was initiated – under the article “Torture committed against minors.” The official representative of the Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Voronezh Region, Elena Andrikevich, confirmed to MK that the investigation in the framework of the initiated criminal case is ongoing.
Not surprisingly, the Network in response to the publication of the horrifying pictures just exploded with indignant comments.
“In my time, this was not the case,” a former employee of the Buturlinovsky orphanage boarding school told MK. – Our director, Nikolai Sergeevich Skolznev, is a very good leader, and I don’t think he could allow children to be bullied like that.
And a teacher of additional education at one of the Russian boarding schools for children with mental retardation told MK that sometimes in such institutions it is impossible to do otherwise …
“If you look at these photos, they look absolutely wild, I agree,” the teacher said on condition of anonymity. – But those people who know nothing about working with mentally retarded children are outraged. Yes, of course, tying is bad and wrong, but, first of all, this is done solely in order to protect the children themselves. In such institutions there are a lot of children and adolescents with various degrees of illness, and there are children who, for example, engage in self-torture. They may injure themselves, but in the process they may also harm their classmates.
I can say, based on personal experience, that it is very difficult to keep track of such children, at any moment such pupils can attack other children. And no matter how super professional you are, you will not be able to protect the surrounding children, for whom you are responsible with your head; so yes, such methods are applied.
Another employee of a similar boarding school agrees with him: “Work for a month in such an institution, and then speak out. How compassionate everyone is! And when these kids throw themselves on the floor and bang their heads on the concrete floor? Sometimes tying is the only way to protect both the child and others. It would be better if the authorities paid attention to the previously carried out optimization of mental hospitals and to the fact that no one goes to work in such institutions, to the catastrophic shortage of psychiatrists and narrow specialists.”
The Department of Social Protection of the Voronezh Region and their ward, the Buturlinovsky orphanage, refused to comment on this situation, redirecting us to the government press service, but we did not receive an answer there either.
