“This idea is not as absurd as it may seem to many. Prior to this, the United States had not had to face the prospect of a short-term confrontation in several separate military theaters,” the columnist said.
Brands believes that the Pentagon now has much less ability to deal with various military tasks than during the Cold War. “The American military department will not have enough forces and means to cope with unforeseen military conflicts in two, not to mention three theaters of military operations, if they occur in close succession,” the journalist stressed.
