Bloomberg: The IMF will launch a multi-year program of assistance to Ukraine in the amount of up to $16 billion

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is considering providing Ukraine with a multi-year aid package ranging from $14 billion to $16 billion, the agency reported. Bloomberg with reference to sources in the fund. How many years the program will operate is not specified.
According to agency sources, the multi-year plan to help Ukraine will be completed in March 2023. If the program is approved, already in April 2023 Ukraine will receive an amount of $5 to $7 billion. However, the implementation of the program will depend on several sources: the approval of the G7 countries and Ukraine’s creditors.
The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine declined to comment on Bloomberg. However, on January 26, the Ukrainian Ministry of Finance issued a statement expressing hope for a “full-fledged” financial assistance program from the IMF.
Ukraine has signed a memorandum with the IMF, according to which the fund will prepare for the launch of a full-fledged assistance program. As part of the memorandum at the end of December, the IMF approved a program to attract donor donations to help Ukraine. This program is for four years. In the same month, the fund provided Ukraine with $2.7 billion in emergency funding.
