Bloody Winnie the Pooh, or How cute Piglet became crazy Piglet

Times are tough right now, of course. This is to put it mildly. We are trying to overcome the sanctions. And not only by patriotic import substitution, but also by semi-criminal “parallel imports”. This applies to almost everything – from space technology to sour cream starter.

So this cup has not passed the film distribution. Boiled projects blossomed violently and expensively-richly. Only the lazy and painfully conscientious did not go into screenwriters, directors and film actors. The word “quality” has become a dirty word, and such a thing as “common sense” has been sent to the same place as copyright laws.

This concerns not only the domestic producer of cinematography. Actually, I was inspired to write this note by a completely imported line in today’s Moscow movie poster. When I read the title of the movie Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, I blinked a couple of times, but the vision did not go away. Further, the monitor issued the following: “Horror about the attack of a distraught Winnie the Pooh on a group of girls.” And in a little more detail: “A company of girls comes to a forest house for the weekend, but instead of resting they will have to confront evil monsters – because of the betrayal of Christopher Robin, Winnie the Pooh and Piglet go crazy and become bloodthirsty maniacs.”

Well, why and why the creators of this horror film decided to take advantage of the fact that the Disney company lost, as reported in the press, the copyright to the characters of the charming animated series, it is pointless to argue. Obviously, people wanted to make money easily. Unknown actors, cheap scenery, primitive special effects cost a penny, and you can earn millions on the world-famous names of the main characters.

My personal question is different: why the hell should this be shown in Moscow and Russian cinemas in general? Why test the patience of parents who from childhood remember and love a cute bear cub, a sad donkey, a cheerful pig and other heroes of the immortal creation of Alan Milne? Have film distributors completely lost their sense of shame and understanding of responsibility for what they show on their screens? Only income – and nothing else?

I was especially alarmed by the following ending to the review of this dirty trick in the poster: “This is a film that plays on nostalgia and on our pleasant memories. Now they are supplemented (in what way! – ed.) by torture, brutal murders and the impenetrable rubber face of the Winnie the Pooh maniac. They promise more. A sequel has already been announced about the yellow bear and his friends, and then a dark version of the adventures of Peter Pan in Neverland.

The world is going crazy. But why should we participate so actively and comprehensively in this?
