Deputy Mayor of Moscow in the government of the capital, Pyotr Biryukov, said that specialists from the Municipal Economy Complex had begun reconstruction of the cascade of the Road Pond in Pokrovsky Park, located in the south of Moscow.
Biryukov said that the pond unites four reservoirs and a multi-stage engineering water filtration system of the Teplyakovsky stream, and its total area is 1.9 hectares. “Since the last reconstruction of the pond in 2008-2009, about 6.5 thousand cubic meters of silt deposits have accumulated at the bottom, causing water to bloom during the warm period. The coastline with a length of 731 meters is not strengthened, because of this, coastal soils slide into the water area,” the deputy mayor said.
Small, Upper, Middle and Lower ponds will be cleared of silt within the framework of the project. The coastline will also be updated and a bioplateau zone will be created. The work is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2023.
The total area of the bioplato will be almost 1.5 thousand square meters, about 32 thousand plants will be planted there.
“The reconstruction will improve the efficiency of the water purification system, create favorable conditions for birds and fish, and turn the ponds into a modern recreation area,” Biryukov said.
