According to Bild, the German Ministry of Defense expressed concern that the draft budget for 2024, which was presented by the Ministry of Finance, lacks more than 5 billion euros in military aid to Ukraine.
The article states that the budget for the Armed Forces of Ukraine includes 3.1 billion euros for already approved projects, another 770 million euros are reserved for support through the German Foreign Ministry and 120 million euros are allocated for new military projects.
At the same time, the German Ministry of Defense believes that Ukraine will request an additional 5.22 billion euros next year to strengthen air defense, supply armored vehicles, increase the efficiency of engineering troops, as well as equip and maintain equipment. In addition, 525 million euros will be required for the Bundeswehr itself to replace the equipment transferred to Ukraine.
Tense negotiations are now expected to take place over the budget. The budget should be finally approved in mid-November.
