Biden promised to support Kyiv “as long as it takes”

The United States will support Ukraine amid the Russian special operation for as long as it takes, US President Joe Biden said during his second appeals to Congress.

During the speech, Biden addressed Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Oksana Markarova, who was invited to the event as a guest of honor.

“America is united in our support for your country. We will be by your side for as long as you need,” he said.

According to Biden, the United States is striving for greater freedom, dignity and peace, not only in Europe but everywhere.

On February 3, it became known about the next package of military assistance, which Washington will allocate to Kyiv. into it will enter, in particular, GLSDB missiles capable of flying about 150 km. The package consists of two parts: $425 million in assistance will be allocated from the Pentagon’s stockpiles, another $1.75 billion will go to purchase weapons from suppliers.

Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24, 2022. After that, Western countries began to provide military assistance to Ukraine and imposed large-scale sanctions against the Russian Federation. In particular, since the beginning of hostilities, the United States has already provided Ukraine with weapons worth about $27.2 billion.

The Russian authorities have repeatedly criticized the supply of Western weapons to Kyiv. In particular, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, warned that pumping Ukraine with weapons brings NATO closer to the dangerous line of a direct military clash with Russia. And Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warned that the supply of long-range weapons would only expand the geography of the special operation.
