US President Joe Biden signed a memorandum on the allocation of another package of military assistance to Ukraine in the amount of $775 million, reported on the White House website.
The funds will be allocated to “defense products and services of the Department of Defense, as well as military education and training,” the document says.
Earlier, Reuters, citing three sources reportedthat the United States is preparing to allocate a new package of military assistance to Ukraine in the amount of $ 800 million. As later reported at the Pentagon, the States are considering the possibility of transferring weapons to the Ukrainian side that can “ensure the success of the Ukrainian army in changing the situation on the battlefield in the southern and eastern regions of the country.”
It is known that the new aid package will include 1,500 Tow anti-tank missiles, HARM anti-radar missiles and 1,000 Javelin missile systems. Also, the Pentagon promised to transfer NASAMS mobile anti-aircraft missile systems and Phoenix Ghost loitering ammunition to Kyiv in the next 2-3 months.
Last week, the US authorities announced the allocation of $1 billion in military assistance to Ukraine. The package included ammunition for the HIMARS MLRS and NASAMS air defense systems, 50 M113 armored medical vehicles, as well as 1,000 FGM-148 Javelin portable anti-tank systems, medicines and explosives. The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that the total amount of US military assistance to Ukraine thus reached $9.8 billion since the start of Joe Biden’s presidential term.
