Biden mistakenly announced a halving of the national debt

US President Joe Biden once again made a mistake, saying that his administration was able to reduce the country’s public debt by 2 times.
At the same time, the US national debt is currently at record levels and exceeds $31 trillion.
Speaking at a Democratic rally in Philadelphia, Biden said, “We literally halved the federal debt. We did it by $1.4 trillion this year, $350 billion last year, and will cut another $250 billion over the next decade.”
Obviously, Biden did not mean the US national debt, but the country’s budget deficit. At the same time, the current US president once again lashed out at his predecessor, Republican Donald Trump, accusing his administration of increasing public debt.
On Friday, Biden once again misspoke, saying that the country’s main car manufacturer General Motors would produce only electric vehicles “by 3035”, and confused the head of GM Mary Barra with US Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett, but later corrected the mistake.
