US President Joe Biden expressed his disappointment that Chinese President Xi Jinping could miss the G20 summit in India, transmits Reuters.

August 31 Reuters, citing sources informedthat Xi Jinping is likely to miss the G20 summit. This information was confirmed by the source of Vedomosti. It is expected that the Chinese delegation at the summit will be headed by Premier of the Chinese State Council Li Qiang. Reuters interlocutors added that they did not know the reasons for this decision. After that, the Chinese Foreign Ministry reported that they could not yet clarify the situation related to Xi Jinping’s plans for the summit.

Reuters wrote that a meeting between Xi Jinping and US President Joe Biden, who had previously confirmed his participation in the event, could take place at the G20 summit. The leaders have not met in person since the last G20 summit held in Indonesia in November 2022.

The G20 meeting will be held in Delhi on September 9-10. Formerly the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation confirmedthat the Russian delegation at the event will be headed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that Russian President Vladimir Putin does not plan to personally attend the G20 summit. Lavrov also represented Russia at last year’s G20 summit in Indonesia.
