Russia does not need a mobilization economy, since the country has reserves and leverage to solve all the tasks set. This statement was made by the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Andrey Belousov in an interview with the Russia 24 TV channel.
“I think that it makes no sense for us to create a mobilization economy now, we simply won’t be able to do it, but we have a sufficient number of reserves and levers that we can use to solve the tasks that both the president and life itself set. “, – he said.
The First Deputy Prime Minister added that not only the government, but also the regional authorities have such leverage and reserves.
According to Belousov, there is no mobilization economy as such, but there is a broader concept of “mobilization society”, which includes the mobilization economy. He explained that “this is always a paramilitary story”, which implies the abandonment of personal interests in favor of state ones.
In October, RANEPA Rector Vladimir Mau suggested considering the transition to a mobilization economy. In a conversation with Vedomosti, he explainedthat one of the main principles of such a model is to strengthen the role of the state as an investor of last resort. Mau specified that the mobilization economy does not contradict the market and does not mean a transition to Soviet administrative management practices.
Earlier today Belousov declaredthat in 2023 the Russian economy will be “much easier” than in 2022. He noted that the government does not see any “fatal problems”. According to him, in 2023 the decline in the Russian economy will be “near zero”, despite the official forecast of just under 1%.
On December 22, during a press conference, Russian President Vladimir Putin also declaredthat Russia passed 2022 “quite confidently”. He added that at the moment there are no concerns that the current situation will interfere with the implementation of plans for the future, including for 2023.
