The governor of the Belgorod region Vyacheslav Gladkov, at an operational meeting in the government, announced the need to urgently restart the warning system during shelling.

“Our warning system worked quite well when Shebekino was shelled in September. Was able to do quality work. Now we have, from my point of view, an inefficient system,” Mr. Gladkov said. As Kommersant told, SMS messages about the shelling came yesterday, December 8, to residents of Belgorod an hour after shelling. According to the governor, the information from the Ministry of Emergency Situations came to the operators 30-40 minutes after the end of the shelling.

“This, of course, causes extreme irritation in people. You and I begin to react when an explosion is heard on the ground. The mass dissemination of information about the need for shelter often causes more panic, but, on the other hand, we cannot predict the duration of the shelling. Based on the current situation, extremely urgent and high-quality work is needed to reboot the system,” said Vyacheslav Gladkov.

He promised to raise this issue at the operational headquarters with the participation of the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Emergency Situations. By the way, in the neighboring Kursk region, SMS messages about shelling arrive within 6-15 minutes after the alarm signal.

Yesterday, as a result of shelling by Ukraine of Belgorod, as well as Belgorod and Krasnoyarzhsky districts in total 12 people were injured, one died. Also affected were 75 residential and industrial buildings and about 40 cars.
