Belgorod governor called false reports of calls for residents to dig trenches

Governor of the Belgorod Region Vyacheslav Gladkov on May 10 during a direct ether on VKontakte, he stated that reports of a search for labor to dig trenches and a request to the founder of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin to protect the village of Krasnoye from shelling were false.

At the end of the broadcast, which lasted about 18 minutes, Mr. Gladkov read out a message from a local resident, who said that he and his acquaintances had received calls to sign up through the employment center for construction work: to erect defensive structures for 1 thousand rubles. The head of the region called such calls false.

After that, Mr. Gladkov recounted on air a video message from the residents of the village of Krasnoye, distributed on May 9 by the Bedgorod Telegram channel. In the video, a man surrounded by four people says that the villagers “no longer know who to turn to” and ask Mr. Prigozhin to “save them”: “We simply don’t have the strength to endure all this, everyone just threw us, we believe that Prigozhin is us can help.”

“Together with representatives of law enforcement agencies, they were looking for these people, they could not (find. – “b”), Mr. Galdkov commented on this video during the broadcast. “They interviewed local residents, no one recognized a single person who is on the video message as a local resident.”

“The information attack from our enemy is increasing. Mr. Gladkov said afterwards. – Disinformation, deceit, attempts to intimidate. Attempts to say that everything is so bad, come, protect us and those, and others, and third, that is, to show the incapacity of the authorities, the military, all power structures – this is the task of our enemy. No one will succeed… We will continue to fight against lies.”

On April 27, during the broadcast, Vyacheslav Gladkov was asked why, with daily shelling in the villages of Krasnoye and Leninsky, they did not introduce an emergency mode. “People from the village have nowhere to live, they cannot wander through rented housing with small children. It can’t go on like this anymore. Take care of the issue of their resettlement, ”said a local resident (quote from a local publication go31.ru). In response, Mr. Gladkov assured that the authorities were monitoring the situation.

The village of Krasnoe is located 1.5 km from the Ukrainian border. As of 2021, 113 people lived in it. The last time the village fired upon armed forces of Ukraine on May 8. Then, as Mr. Gladkov reported in his Telegram channel, an outbuilding in a private household was damaged and one car was not injured. Prior to this, the village of Krasnoe was shelled on April 17, 26 and 28.
