Belgian Prime Minister Alexandre De Croo reported journalists that he instructed the intelligence and military services to check the information that the sabotage and reconnaissance group (DRG) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine used Belgian weapons that attacked the Belgorod region.
“Naturally, our weapons, which are supplied to Ukraine, are intended for defensive purposes on Ukrainian territory. There are extremely strict rules,” he said on the RTBF TV channel.
Earlier, The Washington Post drew attention to the use of weapons supplied to Kyiv in an attack on the Belgorod region. In addition, the American newspaper found weapons and equipment that were supplied by the United States, the Czech Republic, Poland, and others.
After that, the newspaper Le Soir reported about the intention of Brussels to turn to Kyiv for explanations. As expected, Belgian Defense Minister Ludivine Dedonder and Foreign Minister Hadja Lahbib are planning to contact the Ukrainian authorities.
The DRG of the Armed Forces of Ukraine penetrated into the Graivoronsky district of the Belgorod region on May 22. As a result of the incident, one resident of the village of Kozinka died, and 13 more people were injured. During the counter-terrorist operation, the enemy was blocked and defeated, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu reported. The remnants of the militants were forced out by the Russian military into the territory of Ukraine and liquidated, he said. According to the Ministry of Defense, more than 70 saboteurs were killed.
On June 4, the Ministry of Defense announced the suppression of an attempt to break through the Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group (DRG) in the Belgorod region. The actions of the enemy were revealed by Russian border guards. As a result of the artillery strike, the enemy was “scattered and retreated.”
