The Athletics Integrity Unit has suspended 63-year-old former head coach of the Belarus national athletics team, Yuri Moisevich, for five years, effective February 20, 2024, for violating the World Athletics Code of Conduct.

In 2021, runner Kristina Timanovskaya, who was scheduled to compete in the 100 and 200 meters at the Tokyo Olympics, asked for asylum in Europe.

The athlete was critical of an attempt to include her in the race instead of other participants, and then claimed that they were trying to forcibly take her out of Japan.
