Belarusian Ambassador Krutoy: trade turnover between Russia and Belarus will grow to $55 billion

Trade turnover between Russia and Belarus could increase to $55 billion by the end of 2023. This forecast was shared at a meeting of the high-level group of the Council of Ministers of the Union State (US) in Mogilev by the Ambassador of Belarus to Russia Dmitry Krutoy.
“Under the conditions of sanctions pressure, we ended last year with record figures – an increase in trade turnover by 13-14 p.p. Literally today, figures for eight months of this year appeared: also plus 13 p.p., in fact, plus $3.5 billion. Krutoy also noted that the implementation of humanitarian projects within the Union State will intensify significantly in the near future. According to him, Russian-Belarusian interaction in this area at all levels is intensive. The countries will also decide by the end of the year the issue of mutual recognition of electronic digital signatures, the diplomat added.
Previously, Belarusian banks got permanent access to the Russian public procurement system. As the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation noted, both states have entered into an agreement on the mutual recognition of bank guarantees for state or municipal procurement. The document assumes that Russian banks, in turn, now have unhindered access to state and municipal procurement in Belarus.
