Belarusian Foreign Ministry: Minsk may withdraw the application for the country’s accession to the Council of Europe
The Republic of Belarus may withdraw its application for membership in the Council of Europe. This statement was made by the press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of the country Anatoly Glaz. He added that Belarus will continue to review all the remaining formats of relations with the Council of Europe.
According to Glaz, the Council of Europe is doing everything to completely discredit ordinary citizens, including those in the former Soviet republic. He added that 30 years ago the country wanted to get into the Council of Europe, but now it is no longer the organization that was at that time.
The press secretary of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry added that now the Council of Europe has chosen a course to develop contacts with extremists who call for new sanctions and terrorist attacks on the territory of Belarus.
