The Government of Belarus has extended the ban on the import of Skoda, Liqui Moly and Beiersdorf products (Nivea, Labello, Hansaplast brands) until December 31, 2024. Resolution of the Council of Ministers on this published on the national legal Internet portal of the republic.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade, as well as the State Customs Committee have been instructed to take measures to implement this decision. The document comes into force on November 5, 2023.
The new resolution extends the measures approved on April 23, 2021. Then Belarus banned the import and sale of goods from Skoda, Liqui Moly and Beiersdorf, which had previously introduced restrictive measures against a number of Belarusian companies and citizens. The measure was introduced for six months and then repeatedly extended for the same period.
Foreign companies refused to sponsor the Ice Hockey World Championship in Belarus amid the situation in the country that arose after the 2020 presidential elections. In January 2021, the International Hockey Federation deprived Minsk of the right to host the tournament. As a result, all championship matches were held in Latvia, which was supposed to host the competition along with Belarus.
