Belarus declares its readiness to cooperate with NATO while maintaining an alliance with Russia

Minsk is interested in cooperation with NATO countries if they are ready to assume that Belarus and Russia are allies. About it declared Head of the Department of International Military Cooperation of the Ministry of Defense of Belarus Valery Revenko in an interview with VoenTV.
“Being at the epicenter of events in Europe, being in such an important geostrategic position that the Republic of Belarus occupies… we need to think about establishing mutually beneficial relations, including with NATO member countries. This allows us to say that we are cooperating with you, these are our interests, but let’s proceed from the fact that the Russian Federation is our strategic ally,” he said.
Revenko explained that Belarus and NATO countries have already developed similar relations, in particular, on issues of peacekeeping and in the field of culture. The conflict between the republic and the alliance, observed today, according to him, is caused by individual NATO countries that want to “aggravate relations with Russia.”
Earlier, following a meeting on June 25 between Russian and Belarusian Presidents Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko in St. Petersburg, it was announced that Russia would create opportunities for using the territory of Belarus for NATO’s nuclear deterrence.
