Belarus announces military aircraft arriving from Russia

Earlier it was reported that trains with Russian military personnel began to arrive in Belarus on Saturday. The head of the department of international military cooperation, assistant to the head of the Belarusian Defense Ministry, Valery Revenko, said that a total of 9,000 Russian servicemen would arrive in the republic. Their redeployment from Russia will take several days.
More detailed information about the deployment of the joint group, according to Revenko, will be reported at a briefing for military attaches on Monday.
Earlier, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko announced an agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the deployment of a joint regional group of troops “in connection with the aggravation on the western borders of the Union State.”
This is necessary, as reported in the Ministry of Defense of the Republic, “to ensure parity in the field of military security and maintain peace in Belarus.” This decision was made “in the interests of strengthening the protection and defense of the state border” of the country and “to reduce military activity in the border areas.”
The basis of the grouping will be the Armed Forces of Belarus, the number that exists for peacetime. Separate military formations of the Russian Federation will complement it.
