For the first time in history, the beach volleyball festival “Under the Sakhalin sky in Uglegorsk” was held. Sports competitions brought together over 100 participants representing several settlements of the island. They sought to take places on the podium according to the results of various categories, the press service of the Ministry of Sports of the Sakhalin Region reported.
“I am surprised that so many guys came to us. Very strong opponents. I would like this tournament to continue. This is a great pride for me and for the city where I live,” said Eduard De, a participant in the tournament.
The organizers (administration of the Uglegorsk district, the regional Ministry of Sports, the Eastern Mining Company) did everything to make the festival discussed and remembered during the long Uglegorsk winter evenings.
The participants and guests of the holiday were inspired by the exploits of the group “Cover Band”. In the play area, one could find entertainment to the liking of both children and adults, and an exclamation mark at the festival set up a bright festive fireworks display.
“The Eastern Mining Company has prepared four sites, installed electricity and water. All conditions have been created. The participants really enjoyed it. Therefore, we intend to hold the festival every year. In terms of expanding the geography, inviting the Far East, ”said Konstantin Pak, chairman of the Sakhalin Volleyball Federation.
The noisy support of numerous spectators inspired volleyball players. So the plays were creative, the blocks were solid, the passes were radio-controlled, and the shots were irresistible.
Perhaps the most unpredictable were the games in the “family mixed” nomination.
Artem and Alina Butko literally gnawed the victory from their rivals, who are well known to island volleyball fans from their games for Elvari-Sakhalin and Sakhalin in the Russian championship.
Silver was awarded to Philip and Ekaterina Korkin. Fedor and Lilia Silantievs went home with bronze medals.
“I liked it very much. We had a good rest, we did not regret that we went,” said Lilia Silantyeva.
Prizes, by the way, were to match the event. That is, generous and memorable. The prize fund was formed by the Eastern Mining Company.
Medalists were awarded not only traditional certificates, but also certificates in the amount of 5 to 30 thousand rubles.
