Beach handball players from Krasnodar beat their principal rivals

“Spartacus” beaten!

On July 14-16, the second rounds of the Russian men’s and women’s beach handball championships were held simultaneously.

Men competed in Anapa, as in the first round. The second round was originally planned in Belgorod, but due to the proximity of hostilities, it was moved back to the Black Sea coast.

The number of participants was slightly reduced: instead of eleven, nine teams arrived. Two metropolitan teams were missing: CSKA and the Moscow Handball Academy. But there was an extensive representation of the Kuban teams, of which there were as many as five.

As usual, Krasnodar “Ekaterinodar” and “Tekhnolog-Spartak” from Belgorod fought for the first place in the tour. In a full-time duel, they met in the last match of the final game day. Krasnodar finally managed to break a long series of defeats from Spartak in personal meetings. This year, Yekaterinodar lost to their principal rivals in the first round, then in the Russian Cup final. And the last championships and Cups of the country invariably remained with Belgorod. Now Kuban celebrated success in two sets!

True, the Spartacists in Anapa did not stumble more. But “Ekaterinodar” was tripped by the Kuban State University on the first game day, which won in a shootout.

With the equality of victories and defeats with the Spartak team, Yekaterinodar nevertheless became the winner of the second round. But in the general table the results of all matches of two rounds are summed up. Tekhnolog-Spartak is still in the lead here – 38 points, Ekaterinodar has 36 points. Further, the gaps are significant. The first team of the Krasnodar Territory is in the third position – 28 tournament points. In the fifth position “Krasnodar Territory – 2” – twenty-six. The 7th-8th positions are occupied by the KubGU and the Crimean “Rovesnik” – fourteen each.

The third round will take place on July 28-30 in Astrakhan. The final round will be held in the Krasnodar Territory. He will be received by the village of Pavlovskaya on August 11-13. The eight strongest teams according to the results of previous rounds will get there.

Women played in Stavropol – on the site of the current champions of Russia. The number of participants in comparison with the first Anapa tour was reduced from nine to eight. And, unfortunately, the women’s team of KubSU could not play. So the Kuban was represented only by the team of the Krasnodar Territory, which was in third position in the first round. At the beginning of the month, this team became the owner of the Russian Cup. The tournament in Stavropol, alas, was not the best. The team suffered four defeats and won three victories – only over outsiders.

Kubanochki are in fifth place with sixteen points. “Stavropol” took the lead: twenty-six. Next comes the Moscow Handball Academy – twenty-four, Dynamo-Sinara (Volgograd Region) – twenty-two – and Moscow CSKA – eighteen.

The third, also final, round will take place in Moscow on July 21-23.

Bronze “Vityaz”

On July 13-16, Kemerovo hosted the final round of the Russian Beach Volleyball Cup. The total prize fund of the tournament amounted to six million rubles.

The bronze medalists of the competition were the athletes of the Anapa club “Vityaz” Vyacheslav Krasilnikov and Konstantin Semenov. Having successfully passed through the preliminary rounds, in the semi-final game the Kuban team lost to Igor Velichko and Maxim Sivolap from VC Obninsk — 24:26, 18:21.

In the bronze match, the Kuban team outplayed Muscovites Alexei Gusev and Pavel Shustrov – 21:13, 23:21. The pair Krasilnikov and Semenov had third place in the last Cup of the country.

Oleg Stoyanovskiy and Ilya Leshukov from Novy Urengoy Fakel became the winners. This couple defended last year’s title.

Interestingly, Krasilnikov and Semenov had previously performed together for a long time. At the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, they took fourth place. Then Krasilnikov teamed up with Stoyanovskiy. And this couple has achieved the highest achievements in the history of the domestic “scourge-will”. They won the World Championship and became the silver medalists of the Tokyo Olympics. But then their paths diverged. And Krasilnikov and Semenov teamed up again a year ago.

In the women’s part of the competition, the representatives of Moscow won – Nadezhda Makroguzova and Svetlana Kholomina. They also defended their last year’s title. At the same time, Makroguzova is a native of the Kuban. She comes from the village of Tbilisskaya, but has been playing for Moscow for several years.

Representatives of Dynamo Krasnodar Anastasia Zvereva and Anastasia Savchenko performed in Kemerovo. The young athletes, who are not yet eighteen years old, have not managed to get to the decisive matches.

The winners of the Cup received 600,000 rubles, the finalists – 430,000, and the bronze medal winners – 360,000.

If we talk about classical volleyball, Dynamo Krasnodar came out of vacation last week and started training. And Svetlana Masaleva, the libero team, was called up to the Russian national team. The national team under the leadership of the Serbian specialist Zoran Terzic from July 16 to August 11 will train in Novogorsk near Moscow. Completion of the camp will be test matches against the national team of Belarus.

If we talk about the Russian national teams, then the captain of the SKIF, Savely Shalabanov, was called up to the men’s national handball team. The best scorer of the last Super League draw, together with seventeen handball players, will train under the guidance of Velimir Petkovic at the Yug Sport base in Sochi. The collection will take place from July 24 to August 2. During this time, only two bilateral games are expected – no other sparring is planned.

Double pedestal for rugby players

Last weekend, the first All-Russian Youth Beach Sports Festival took place in Crimea. It was hosted by the city of Sudak. The Kuban rugby players performed well here.

Two of our teams came to the tournament: KubGTU – “Bogatyrs” and the team of the Krasnodar Territory. And both returned home with medals. There were six teams in total in the tournament. The best result was shown by the players of KubGTU – RK “Bogatyri”, who won all the matches. Only at the group stage, the team of Evgeny Mazurenko and playing coach Alexander Semeykin had light difficulties. And in the playoffs, she gained momentum and left no chance for her rivals. In the final, the Kuban team outplayed the national team of the Republic of Crimea. The team of the Krasnodar Territory finished third, having won the team of the Lipetsk Region in the small final.

On July 22-23, Kaliningrad will host the most important start of the summer in rugby sevens: the strongest teams in the country will compete for the Russian Cup. Krasnodar “Bogatyrs” will participate in the tournament and try to climb as high as possible.

The series of defeats for Krasnodar-UMR continued in the beach soccer super league. The Tigers played three matches in Moscow, at the Water Stadium. All games were fairly close in score. In the first game, Krasnodar lost to CSKA – 4: 8, in the second game to Saratov – 4: 5, in the final – to the LEX club from St. Petersburg – 4: 6. The team still has four points, and it takes the last place.

The next matches involving Krasnodar will also be held in Moscow on August 18-20.

Finally, let’s talk about individual sports. Savva Polukhin from Sochi became the winner of the international tennis tournament RTF Cup II. The competitions were held in Moscow, at the National Tennis Center.

In the final match, which took place on July 16, the Sochi player defeated another Russian – Evgeny Tyurnev from Vsevolozhsk (Leningrad region). The opponent won the first set – 6: 3, Polukhin took the second game – 6: 2 – and led in the third with a score of 2: 0, after which Tyurnev refused to continue the fight due to injury.

These tennis players met a week ago in the final of the first RTF Cup, and then the victory went to Evgeny Tyurnev.

– The match was difficult. I lost the first set, but did not give up, pulled myself together and fought to the end, – said Savva Polukhin after the revenge in an interview with the press service of the Russian Tennis Federation.

Another Sochi resident, Maxim Batin, finished the tournament at the first round stage.

New RTF Cup tournaments will take place this August.
