Hero of the Soviet Union, retired Major General Alexander Soluyanov, died at the age of 69. This was reported by Valery Yuryev, a member of the central board of the Union of Russian Paratroopers.
Soluyanov played the role of “batyan-battalion commander” in the video of the same name by the group “Lube”. At the same time, the video was never released because its director Nikita Mikhalkov switched to another project. Soluyanov said in an interview with aif.ru that he was glad about this, because the image of the battalion commander was supposed to remain collective.
“There were so many worthy officers in Afghanistan and in Chechnya. And now, during the Northern Military District,” he said.
Soluyanov went through the war in Afghanistan, he received the title of Hero of the USSR in 1984. He took part in 70 operations, including in the Panjshir Gorge, where he took commanding heights with his fighters. Soluyanov’s son is now taking part in hostilities in Ukraine.
