The commander of the Vostok battalion of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Alexander Khodakovsky, announced a change in the mode of service of military personnel after the shelling of a vocational school in Makeyevka. According to him, local mobilized people are no longer kept “like herrings in a barrel.” A special mode has been introduced to minimize crowding.
“Soldiers who fought somewhere in the Kherson direction and did not see their families for several months were transferred to the duty mode, when they are on duty for a day, and two are at home. This temporary measure is both reasonable and humane,” Mr. Khodakovsky noted in his Telegram-channel.
As the commander of the Vostok battalion specified, changes were made to the mechanism for deploying personnel after the possible causes of the incident were analyzed. “At the lower level, out of habit, they were looking for an extreme one, at a higher one, they tried to develop a formula for how the mechanism for deploying personnel in such situations should work,” he described the reaction to the tragedy in Makeyevka among the military. At the same time, he recalled that commanders should know that “there are no safe places now” and saving the lives of soldiers is their area of responsibility.
The strike on the vocational school building in Makeyevka was carried out on the night of December 31 to January 1 by the HIMARS system. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, as a result perished 89 Russian military. 45 wounded soldiers were delivered for treatment in the hospital of Samara.
