Bastrykin said that the defendant in the attempt on Prilepin had accomplices

Accused of the attempt on the life of the writer Zakhar Prilepin, he was the perpetrator of the attack, but he did not act alone. His accomplices are now being identified, said Alexander Bastrykin, chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, speaking at the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum.

“I can say that they found a cache in the Moscow region, where there were ammunition <...> He did not act alone, he is a performer. We are now establishing accomplices,” the head of the department said.

Bastrykin added that the attempt on Prilepin is a special operation of the Ukrainian special services. According to him, “powerful and strong” training was carried out. He did not provide any other details about the progress of the investigation.

Prilepin’s car was undermined on the morning of May 6 in the Nizhny Novgorod region. As a result of the explosion, Prilepin’s assistant and ally, Alexander Shubin, a native of Lugansk, who previously served in the LPR, died. The writer himself suffered and underwent surgery.

The next day Prilepin for the first time told about the circumstances of what happened. In particular, he clarified that during the explosion he was driving, and his deceased colleague was driving on the right in the passenger seat. Earlier today, Health Minister Mikhail Murashko toldthat Prilepin’s condition is assessed as normal, his treatment continues. On May 9, the writer for the first time after the assassination attempt appeared on video.

May 8 Semenovsky District Court of the Nizhny Novgorod Region sent Alexander Permyakov, accused of attempted murder of Prilepin, was taken into custody for two months. Permyakov was charged with a terrorist attack (Article 205 of the Criminal Code) and illegal arms trafficking (Article 222 of the Criminal Code). Prior to that, he admitted to working for the Ukrainian special services.
