Bastrykin said about the difficulty of bringing judges to justice

It is difficult to bring judges to justice due to their status; the consent of the High Qualifications Board of Judges of the Russian Federation and irrefutable evidence of involvement in the crime are required. This was stated in an interview with RIA Novosti on the occasion of the upcoming International Anti-Corruption Day, the head of the ICR, Alexander Bastrykin.
The head of the department noted that the status of a judge is determined by the Constitution and federal laws, and a certain procedure is provided for initiating a criminal case against them. According to him, the very obtaining of consent and the collection of evidence against a representative of the judiciary is “difficult, painstaking and time-consuming work”, however, this does not mean that their crimes go unpunished.
As an example, Bastrykin cited the case against the judge of the Kolomna City District of the Moscow Region, Irina Agafonova. The woman was charged with attempting to receive a bribe in the amount of about 600 thousand rubles for imposing a sentence on the defendant that did not involve imprisonment.
