The chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, said that men who change sex “on paper” in order to avoid the army are engaged in fraud and violate the country’s defense capability. He said this within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum.
“The fact that Europe is for them (who changed their sex.— “b”) gives benefits, then these are the problems of Europe. Sex change on paper is a deception, a fraud. If this is fraud, this deceit violates the interests of the state, our defense capability, ”said the head of the TFR (quote from TASS). Mr. Bastrykin specified that he also meant those who left the country after the start of mobilization.
The head of the Duma Committee on Family, Women and Children, Nina Ostanina, told Kommersant in early May that amendments would be made to the State Duma in the near future to prohibit official sex change without a surgical operation. Earlier, the Ministry of Justice came up with such an initiative. A Kommersant source in the Duma explains that the attention of legislators was attracted by the increasing cases when young people use sex change certificates to avoid being drafted into military service.
