The game will be held at the new state-of-the-art sports ground of the city
In a few days, on June 18, a new basketball court will be opened on the territory of school No. 35, which has no analogues in Buryatia yet. Funds for its construction were allocated by the Kirilenko to Children Charitable Foundation, founded by the famous basketball player and President of the Russian Basketball Federation Andrey Kirilenko.
The deputies of the Ulan-Ude City Council of Deputies are monitoring the progress of construction and putting the finishing touches before the opening. On June 14, Anatoly Belousov and Denis Egorov came to check the readiness of the new site, which will host an open 3×3 basketball tournament “City Council Cup” on June 18.
– I must say right away that we have not yet had such sites in the republic and it is the only one of its kind in the entire Far Eastern Federal District. Its uniqueness lies in the special flooring. It is designed specifically for professional basketball and eliminates injuries and stress on the joints. On June 17 and 18 we will hold a basketball tournament dedicated to the 100th anniversary of our republic. More than 60 teams from Irkutsk, Angarsk, Chita and Buryatia will take part in it. The winners and the best players will be awarded cups, medals, diplomas, winners’ T-shirts and cash prizes.
The modern basketball court is made in accordance with all technologies and standards, has bright and original colors and professional backboards. The idea to hold an open 3×3 basketball tournament on it appeared immediately after the start of construction. Denis Egorov, a professional basketball player and city council member, noted that 3×3 basketball is a very popular and rapidly developing sport today. The Basketball Federation singled it out as an Olympic sport, and at the Tokyo Olympics, where it was competed for the first time, both Russian teams – both men’s and women’s – took silver.
– The advantage of 3×3 basketball is that the game requires a small team of participants. The game itself lasts only 10 minutes, so the matches are very dynamic, interesting, so to speak, in one breath. In Ulan-Ude, a lot of teams expressed their desire to participate in the game. I am sure that this tournament will be held on an ongoing basis and the number of participants will only grow.
On June 17, on Saturday, the game will be held on the sports ground located on the territory of the Buryat Pedagogical College along Khotsa Namsaraev Street, 5, and on June 18 – on a new specialized site on the territory of school No. 35, at Karl Marx Boulevard, 15. The official opening of the ribbon-cutting ground, the closing of the basketball tournament and the final games will also take place here.
Competitions will be held in four age categories – girls from 16 years old and older, boys from 16-18 years old, men from 19 years old and older and teams of men 40+.
Games start at 10 am.
Age limit 6+
