As the press service of the Essentuki administration said, the day before young residents of the resort city took part in the Stavropol Territory Streetball Championship. More than 500 street basketball players from all over the Stavropol region gathered at the “3 on 3” tournament in the regional capital.
Among the best are streetballers from the Essentuki sports school. First place in their age category went to 12-year-old Essentukan girls from the team of coach Maria Semenova. “Silver” of the tournament went to two resort teams: students of Natalia Ukraintseva and Maria Semenova, with a gap of 1 point from the leaders. The honorable third place was taken by young men born in 2010, mentor – Mikhail Voznyuk.
Note that the game of streetball differs from classic basketball, first of all, in the size of the court: here the playing area is half the size, and both teams score into one hoop. Streetball is played in the open air, each team has three players, the fourth is a reserve. Both sports are united by entertainment and promotion of a healthy lifestyle, but in streetball speed and playing technique are more valued.
