The practice of expulsion of residents of the Zaporozhye region to the territory controlled by Kyiv for anti-Russian actions has been stopped, the corresponding decree was signed by the acting governor of the region Yevhen Balitsky. The head of the region announced this on the air of the Crimea-24 TV channel.
“By the decision of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, [решение] on the termination of this rule on eviction. <...> And on May 2 or 5, in accordance with the order of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, I also issued a decree that this norm was discontinued. We can no longer use this norm, – said he (TASS quote).
The document on the expulsion from the territory of the Zaporozhye region of people involved in terrorist attacks and extremist activities, as well as those who discredited the authorities of the Russian Federation, was signed by Balitsky in the summer of 2022. In July, a similar decree signed head of the Kherson region Volodymyr Saldo.
In September, four unreliable citizens left the territory of the Zaporozhye region, who were convicted of subversive activities, RIA Novosti reported. Then the Russian security forces took the citizens to the checkpoint and read the accusations to them, then sent them on foot to the territory controlled by Kyiv.
