Balance: Putin controls the situation in the Kherson region after the breakthrough of the hydroelectric dam

Russian President Vladimir Putin keeps the situation in the Kherson region under constant control after the destruction of the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, regularly inquiring about what is happening, Acting Governor of the region Vladimir Saldo said on the air of Rossiya-24.

“The president is interested in the situation: what is happening, how it is happening, now he repeatedly dials and asks, he constantly controls the situation,” said he (TASS quote).

Saldo said that Putin instructed him to collect and transmit the most complete data on the situation with flooding, to provide residents of the region with all the necessary assistance, both moral and material, including those related to the restoration of damaged housing.

The breakthrough of the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station occurred on the night of June 6. As a result of the incident, an uncontrolled discharge of water began, the level of which reached more than 11 m. A local emergency regime was introduced on the territory of the district, and an emergency regime was also introduced on the territory of the Kherson region. Putin named the undermining of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station by the barbaric action of Kyiv.

In connection with what happened on June 8, Putin phoned Saldo, they discussed the situation in the region after the destruction of the Kakhovskaya HPP. Following the conversation, the head of state instructed the Ministry of Emergency Situations to provide all necessary assistance to flood-affected households in full compliance with Russian standards. The President also instructed to analyze the needs of the region in connection with the consequences of the breakthrough of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station.

Earlier today, the balance, referring to the preliminary calculations “RusHydro“, informedthat the Dnieper River will return to its usual course below the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station by June 16. According to him, the level of water rise in Nova Kakhovka per day decreased by 3 m – to the level of 7 m. Water pumping and garbage collection from the streets began. Also, continued Saldo, the water began to descend in the lower reaches of the Dnieper. In particular, in Aleshki per day – by 2 m (from the mark of 5 m to 3 m), in Gola Pristan – by 1 m (from the mark of 5 m to 4 m). According to the latest data, more than 6,000 people have been evacuated from the flooded territories, including 235 children and 81 people with limited mobility.
