Baku calls Pashinyan’s words about the concentration of troops on the border a manipulation

The statement of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan about the pulling of Azerbaijani troops to the border with Armenia and the dividing line with Nagorno-Karabakh is a political manipulation. About it says in the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.

“In order to establish peace and security in the region, Armenia must renounce its territorial claims against Azerbaijan, put an end to military and political provocations and remove obstacles to the successful outcome of negotiations on a peace treaty,” the Foreign Ministry stressed.

They noted that “real threats to security in the region” are military-political provocations by Armenia and accusations against Baku.

Earlier September 7 Pashinyan declaredthat Azerbaijan has concentrated troops on the border with Armenia and the dividing line with Nagorno-Karabakh. He called on the international community and UN countries to “take serious measures to prevent a new explosion” in the region.

Commenting on the words of Pashinyan, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov declaredthat Moscow continues “scrutinous, consistent, constructive work” with both Yerevan and Baku.

The aggravation of the situation occurs against the backdrop of plans conduct joint military exercises between the United States and Armenia from September 11 to 20 as part of “preparation for participation in international peacekeeping missions.” The Kremlin said that such news causes wariness.

On September 3, Pashinyan, in an interview with the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, said that Russia was moving away from the South Caucasus, and Russian peacekeepers did not control the Lachin corridor. In the Kremlin disagreed with the words of the prime minister, emphasizing that the Russian Federation is “an integral part of this region”, and therefore cannot leave it.

On May 25, Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, through the mediation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, discussed relations between the two countries in the Kremlin, but did not adopt a joint statement at the end of the day. At the same time, as Aliyev noted, after Armenia’s statements on the recognition of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, the issue of agreeing on the points of the peace treaty will go “much easier.”
