Bagdasarov urged to rehabilitate Stalin to unite society

Russian political scientist Semyon Bagdasarov expressed the opinion that under the conditions of a special operation, in order to unite society, it is necessary to rehabilitate the name of Joseph Stalin.

As he noted in interview portal SM.News, in 1985, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Victory, there was a closed letter from the Central Committee of the CPSU about the need to rename Volgograd to Stalingrad. According to him, many other events related to the restoration of Stalin’s name were also proposed there. However, Mikhail Gorbachev rejected these proposals.

“And we are suffering again. There was the Battle of Stalingrad, but there is no Stalingrad, and many other things,” Bagdasarov said.

The expert added that now, when Russia is opposing the West, this could be done if the majority of the population supports it.

Bogdasarov said that if necessary, an additional poll could be conducted, but he called this action meaningless, since earlier 80% of the population had already supported it.

“Of course, there are those who disagree, but this is a democracy when the majority obeys the minority,” the analyst said.

He also noted that, in his opinion, such a step “will lift the spirit of our people.”
