Chairman of the Russian All-People’s Union Sergei Baburin said that his party has collected signatures to nominate a candidate for the presidency of Russia. They will be submitted to the Central Election Commission on January 30.

“The signatures have been collected and are being sent to Moscow,” Mr. Baburin told RIA Novosti.

Presidential elections will take place March 15–17. 11 people are vying for the post. So far Nikolai Kharitonov (KPRF), Leonid Slutsky (LDPR) and Vladislav Davankov (New People) have been registered. Representatives of parliamentary parties do not need to collect signatures. Self-nominated candidates – Vladimir Putin, the Russian Rada, Anatoly Batashev – must collect more than 300 thousand signatures. Party nominees – Sergei Malinkovich, Boris Nadezhdin, Andrei Bogdanov, Sergei Baburin, Irina Sviridova – need to receive at least 100 thousand signatures. The decision on registering candidates will be made no later than February 10.
