The International University Sports Festival has ended in Yekaterinburg. From August 19 to 31, 197 sets of awards were drawn.
“The festival was a success – in terms of the number of countries, participants, content, intensity of the struggle,” First Deputy Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Azat Kadyrov said at the final press conference. “The audience saw a very good level of competition.”
He noted that the format of the event was unique, and now ideas are being considered on how to develop it further.
The head of the Directorate of the Festival Alexander Chernov thanked all those involved in the organization of the competition for their work.
“I will note one unique fact: in order to fly to us, the participants traveled a total of almost 8 million kilometers, if you count there and back,” said Alexander Chernov. “It shows that we have not worked in vain. We managed to organize a real holiday.”
In the unofficial medal standings, the first place was taken by the team of NSU named after P.F. Lesgaft (St. Petersburg). Among the foreign teams is the University of Physical Culture and Sports Sciences of Cuba.
Swimmer Yana Shakirova from NSU named after P.F. won the most medals. Lesgaft, 6 gold medals, 2 silver, 1 bronze).
