Axios: Biden got angry at aides who apologized for his words about Putin

Franklin Feuer’s new book, The Last Politician: Inside Joe Biden’s White House and the Fight for America’s Future, claims that US President Joe Biden has become angry with his aides for their attempts to disavow his unexpected statement about Russian President Vladimir Putin. In a speech in Warsaw in March 2022, Biden said that Putin “cannot remain in power.” However, his team was quick to clarify that this was just an improvisation and did not reflect official US policy.

Feuer said Biden knew he had made a mistake, but was annoyed by his aides for “creating the impression that they should have corrected his mistake.” He also complained to his friends that instead of letting him be held responsible for the failure, the coordinators treated him like a child.

This controversial statement overrode all other parts of Biden’s speech in Warsaw. The president hoped that his speech would earn him honor and respect, but the press stopped admiring his rhetoric, describing him as a braggart lacking self-control, the author of the book points out.

Earlier, former US military intelligence officer Scott Ritter said that Biden was deceiving the Americans, claiming that Putin lost the conflict in Ukraine. In his opinion, the US president is doing this to justify the cost to Ukraine. Ritter also notes that in the West they are trying to shut up and prevent people from seeing the real situation.
