Avangard forward Korban Knight: “We will develop success and move forward”

On Saturday, August 6, Avangard defeated Minsk Dynamo 5:2 at the pre-season tournament in Sochi. His striker Korban Knight commented on the game, noting that the Hawks’ game system hadn’t changed much since Bob Hartley’s days.
The forward of the Omsk club appreciated the meeting with Dynamo and stressed that it was a pleasure for him to play in the same trio with Reed Bush and Sergey Tolchinsky.
– The first goal was not mine, its author was Tolchinsky. It’s been a good match. It was nice to go out on the ice and play. I’m still getting used to the time difference, plus after the summer break it always takes time to get used to the games again. It is a pleasure to play with Boucher and Tolchinsky, they have made my work much easier today. We will try to develop success and move forward.
The game system has not undergone significant changes. Coach Dmitry Ryabykin worked with Bob for several years. He is a great person and a great coach. I do not experience any difficulties, the system is very similar to the one we followed earlier. This makes it easier to adapt.
Dmitry Ryabykin expects hard work and powerful play from us. The team was filled with good newcomers and at the heart of the Avangard game is hard work and the fact that we never give up. We need to keep focusing on this. I believe that strong players have joined the team and they will also adhere to the principles by which Avangard exists and plays. I don’t think this will change.
It’s still the pre-season, so both we and the opponent want to shake off the rust after the summer. They will have a good team this season, Minsk has signed strong legionnaires. As for us, we tried to play simply, managed to convert the majority and, in general, I think we had a good match for the beginning of August.
I’m looking forward to when I come to Omsk. The wait was long due to the arena situation. Everyone is happy to return to Omsk and reunite with the fans. There is the whole history of Omsk hockey. This will be a special year for Omsk and the whole team is looking forward to it.
