Avangard again beat Metallurg and led the series already 3:0

On Tuesday, March 21, the third match of the 1/4 finals of the Gagarin Cup between Avangard and Metallurg took place in Magnitogorsk. The Hawks won in overtime. The score of the meeting is 3:2. The decisive goal was scored by Arseniy Gritsyuk. The score in the series is now 3-0 in favor of Omsk.

On March 21, Avangard beat Metallurg on the road in the semifinals of the East conference in overtime 3:2. And thus led the series 3-0.

It is worth noting that the composition of the “hawks” has not changed in any way in comparison with the second match of the quarterfinals of the Gagarin Cup. In the game now they acted cautiously, taking away model. Apparently, given that the Urals will fly to recoup, losing in the series 0:2.

At the very start, the guests were in the minority, but resisted. And then they scored themselves – Knight picked up a rebound on the “patch” and successfully disposed of the puck further.

“Metallurg” bounced back in the 12th minute – a combination was played by Maye and Karpov, also scoring from the “patch” in the end.

In the second period, the score 1:1 has not changed. But it was still interesting in its own way.

In the third segment, the hosts’ goal in the 55th minute, when Grigory Dronov scored, could have inspired anxiety. But a little more than a minute later, the Omsk team managed to show their gigantic margin of safety – they staged an assault with six of them, replacing the goalkeeper with a field player, and scored. Moreover, rarely scoring defender Viktor Svedberg scored, throwing into the left corner, as it seemed, even slightly outwitted the goalkeeper of the “steelworkers” Pasquale. So the teams went into overtime.

In extra time, to be honest, there was a premonition that our team would be successful – looking at how they weaved attacking laces, breaking into the opponent’s zone. In the end, that is what happened. At the 65th minute of the meeting, Arseniy Gritsyuk’s long-range shot brought Avangard victory – for the second time in this series.

Then the teams will meet on March 23 also in the Urals.
