Automotive expert Andrey Lomanov said in an interview with NSN that Russian motorists would not feel Georgia’s ban on the supply of cars imported from Armenia to the Russian Federation. He pointed out that there is no high demand for these cars in Russia.
According to Lomanov, the car imported to Russia from Germany will be clean, since this country has very strict requirements for cars in the secondary market, and the import of cars from Armenia through Georgia is a “pig in a poke”. He stressed that there is no high demand for such cars, and besides, Russia has alternative import routes, for example, through Belarus or the UAE.
The founder of RogovMobil, Dmitry Rogov, in turn, told “Gazete.Ru”that the relevant ban would have a positive effect on the Russian automotive market, since the bulk of the cars delivered through Georgia were “auto junk” from the North American market.
The expert clarified that mostly completely broken cars from the United States were transported through Georgia, which were “somewhat restored” and imported to the Russian Federation. He added that the situation is similar with Armenia, the cars from which went through Georgia.
