The Australian Foreign Office clarified that the country has imposed sanctions on more than 1,000 individuals and companies so far. In addition, the government plans to introduce a ban on the export of equipment and spare parts to Russia. The ministry added that the sanctions “target sectors of economic and strategic importance to Russia.”
Australia joined the US and European sanctions after the start of a special operation in Ukraine in February 2022. The sanctions are imposed on the country’s metallurgy, energy, financial and defense sectors, and also include restrictions on the export and import of products.
